Electoral information not showing in credit file

I recently realised that I was registered on the electoral roll and this would negatively impact my rating. So I filled out my application with the council and duly received a letter confirming I now show in the electoral roll. I checked my credit file and nothing was showing. I queried with the council who informed me they only update their records every December so nothing shows until then!! (really??!)

I'm not doing this to get credit I'm trying to rebuild my rating and clean up my file but is it right that they only update once a year??

So hypothetically any searches that are made now would show incorrect information?

Yes - most only seem to do it once a year.

Yes its correct they may only update them once a year.

You say you are not doing this to get credit, so it doesnt matter then! Feeling all warm about your high credit score means nothing if you are not applying for credit.

Tail wagging the dog? Surely your responsibility to vote in an effective government is the whole reason for registering? Providing data so a CRA can say you're good for a loan is perverse.

It's extra confirmation to the lenders that you live at the address provided, in a world without fraudsters it wouldn't matter.

Lenders advance money not the CRA's. Electoral roll registration is a basic requirement for mortgages now.

Thanks for the answer. No I'm not doing it to get credit but in my opinion it does matter that data is accurate. I'm just trying to make sure I've done everything I need to so its all correct for the future. It's not about 'feeling warm' about my credit score.
