From what I've read in the papers recently it doesn't seem to be a good line to be in. I'm rather puzzled that you seem to be considering going into a business of which you have little knowledge.

Articles like this suggest there is something of a crisis - older GP's retiring and younger doctors preferring other jobs in the NHS

not a good business to be in at present as all the recent articles indicate.

The NHS pays about £60-70 a year per patient who registers with you for the majority of their care.

Your expenses are building costs, day to day running costs, all staff costs, stationary, gas/electric/phone/heating/equipment. main thing being staff costs - reception/typists/admin/cleaners.

Whatever is left is your profit/salary....or very little according to some smaller practices with high demand from patients
