Do both parties need to be present to open a joint bank account?

I was wondering if there were any banks which allowed you to open a joint bank account if only one of the parties was present?

The reason why I ask is because my other half is always away on business and he has instructed me to find out about this for our bill payments.

Thanks

I've certainly opened joint accounts online without any need to show face in a branch (Santander 123 for one) but it's difficult to predict what ID verification each bank would deem necessary as they're naturally reluctant to publicise this, so what works for one person may not for another....

Why not 'instruct' your other half to be around when you both need to do this?!

    Halifax you dont
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Have opened them online and over the phone without partner being around and never had any issues.

They have occasionally asked for proof of ID to be brought in (or posted) and that can be done individually or together.
