I have been getting the hard sell to go for a TV package with talktalk.
I already have a TV with 2 built in sat boxs getting free view and freesat.
Are there any other channels you get by paying talktalk for the TV package?
If not why would anyone go for it?

So my contract is coming to an end. The best talktalk can offer me is £128 pay upfront for a year line rental and £1.75 month for simply internet (unlimited) or £2.25 month for eve and weekend calls and the TV package.
I will never use the phone as we have mobile contracts with tons of mins to use up. I only want the Broadband but is it worth an extra 50p month for the TV package?0 -
First of all, check the duration of the contract if you take up the TV option as it may tie you in for 18 months but the reduced rates they are giving you may be for a lesser time and you are tied up for the remainder at a higher cost.
A friend of mine has just received a TV box after being talked into renewing his contract with Talktalk but has discovered that it doesn't do much more than his smart TV which has BBC iplayer and equivalent for ITV plus channel 4 and 5. The standard box basically gives you Catch-up TV in an easy to use format plus, if you are prepared to pay, access to some sport channels. He has just left it in the box and has no plans to use it.
And, no, you don't get any extra channels over Free view0 -
No. You get nothing more than you are already getting (assuming your current boxes do record/pause etc). Other channels are available but you pay extra for them. Its not much extra though. You will be tied in to another 18 months with the TV as they supply a youview box (which is probably nowhere near as good as the boxes you have).0

True. I did miss that bit (my bad). The newer version of the Toshiba model that i have does have a built in HD recorder though so it is possible. The youview box supplied by TT is rubbish though. Its nothing like the adverts make out. Its very laggy and although they make the catchup look very intuitive its not really. Its certainly not worth getting into an extended contract for what is basically just a pretty poor pvr.0 -
can you get online on tv with TT? youtube and all that?0

Just make sure it's the full TV package -the one that pops up when I login is the box that records only 30mins or something.
If it is the full service it's quite good now as you have several free Sky channels which can now be recorded to the box (assuming the box is updated). These goodies are all via the Internet so you'll need 2mb at least and nobody else using it in the house.
Their new boxes have all the usual catchup (iPlayer etc).
I'm stuck with TT as there's no better deal for me.0
