What budget TV 46-50"

I know from some research that a company in Turkey called vestel is behind 90% of the budget TV in the UK, they even supply some of the better known brands with cheap panels
If vestel do supply the likes of Toshiba and sharp with their panels they must be of reasonable quality.
I know the cheap units "technika, jmb, Polaroid, Bush and finlux" who all use vestel to make the TVs have all got terrible sound quality.
The sound quality won't be an issue as I'll have my bose player mounted below the TV, picture quality has to be reasonable but it's only going to be used in the bedroom so it'll only be used for a couple of hours a night at most.
It'll be an led TV, plasma is to heavy and to power hungry. I won't have high expectations since we have the top of the range Samsung 55" to and the picture is excellent and it's hooked up to a Sony surround sound system - I know any budget TV will be much poorer.
We currently have a 32" TV in the room so we could get a better unit at 42" but these days there isn't much of price difference between a 42 and 50" TVs not at the budget end anyway. I know the 46" version of our main TV was much much cheaper.
A better quality 42" tv could be an option however it's not much of an upgrade from a 32"

Is that a question?
Show us your research.
I wouldn't be using budget TVs if I had a Bose system.0 -
It is indeed a question, hence the thread title...
I didn't save any Web pages but after an hour or searching various websites and forums it became clear vestel makes nearly all budget TV sets and even supplies Panasonic with panels.
Just because we can afford it doesn't mean we like to though money at things that will get very little use, that would be stupid.0 -
What is your budget?
I bought a 50" Panasonic LED from Tesco earlier this year, which came with a free extended warranty.0 -
I would suggest the budget suggested is more than I call "budget", if a person can afford Bose (because of their superior design - they are owned by a certain Tech Institute in the states, profit goes straight back into the Uni) either they have excellent hearing or have no visual sense  or no sense:D4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Probably £500, problem I have no is that I've found out that even know your paying for a Panasonic you could well be paying for a TV that's been made by vestel, meaning your literally paying for the Panasonic badge when it's similar quality to a budget model.
Or last TV cost just shy of £2000, kind of a stupid reply earlier saying if they could afford or have a bose system they wouldn't buy a cheap TV, no point spending another £2000 on a TV that's used for Netflix. It doesn't have to be a smart TV we have a smart 3D Samsung blu Ray player mainly for smart features so probably prefer a non smart TV since the blu Ray player does that well
It'll be used for a couple of hours at night at most and the viewing distance would be about 8 foot from eyes to TV so the picture quality doesn't have to be perfect.
Thanks to my son who almost three we are in bed really early and shattered so it's a night in bed with Netflix most nights and the 32" TV from 8 feet away is a bit small especially with tired eyes.0 -
Well we all survived with terrible picture quality from vhs and standard definition for a long time so I'm sure I can manage with less than perfect picture quality for a couple of hours a night while we fall asleep.....
Just because someone can afford something doesn't mean they have to buy the best of everything, I'm not a snob so no need to behave like one.
I should have said our current 32" tv is a vestel unit rebranded as goodmans and is about five years old and the picture is fine just want bigger to save straining eyes0 -
Get your terminology sorted you won't be getting an LED tv
panel is only part of the story software is much more important to getting a good picture
get over to avforums.0 -
I stood in Asda yesterday watching their TV displays and was very impressed with the picture quality on LG tv's, side by side with Samsung and Panasonic they had the sharper brighter and more vivid picture. I myself am a Panasonic owner and fan but these LG's are worth a look. Don't do budget remember buy cheap and buy twice."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

This is irrelevant as none of the TVs are set up properly in big stores. Brightness pumped up to max etc. No way to judge picture.I stood in Asda yesterday watching their TV displays and was very impressed with the picture quality on LG tv's, side by side with Samsung and Panasonic they had the sharper brighter and more vivid picture
Anyway, OP's question. 46-50 inch TV, budget £500, smartness not important. Don't worry about the factory thing. Lots of different cars come out of the same factory but you can tell the difference between them. The most important part of a TV is the panel. Instead of going mad about where a V is put together, either research the panels, or, just look at the screens or read reviews. I agree that AVForums is good to see how a TV is once someone got it home.
Here's a couple to start with, although the Panasonic is online only, not instore:

The What HiFi website has a large number of reviews which may give you a bit more insight into the good and bad of tv's in general.
