I've subscribed to this thread too! I love going on holidays to those little log cabins and caravans. Probably because I can't have any clutter due to the size plus it's only mine for a week or so!
I shall enjoy your ramblings! When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Sorry to be nosy but what do you do when the site is closed?
Is this when you go on holiday?
I used to live backing onto a caravan park with lakes in Northants and spent many happy hours walking my dogs around the site dreaming of a life living in a caravan:T I was very nosy and kept imagining what each static was like inside and who lived there.
Only yesterday we passed an abnormal load travelling to an unknown destination - it was a luxury static caravan with patio doors - I started day dreaming of a winter away from it all overlooking the sea. Hubby said "it will get cold" - i said "oh no it has central heating and double glazing". I even planned that I would have one of those light weight and rechargeable cleaners that you see advertised :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hubby said it would get blown off the cliff or washed away - he was in a bad mood due to a difficult meeting re one of my relatives. Burst my bubble of dreams.
Will subscribed to this thread xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
MOLLY never loose your dreams, no matter how far away of unlikely it seems that they will materialise, keep your dreams and who knows, one day, they might just become your reality!!! Keep the vision, we all need something to hold to that is presently unattainable, something to lift us on dark days and keep the candle flame of 'perhaps' alive!!!0

Ohhh I'd love to live in a caravan, perhaps I need to talk to DH, it might be a way to make our house pay for itself when he retires, rent it and buy a little caravan to live in for most of the year! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

DH spent his teenage years living in a caravan with his dad when his mam left. They moved to Scotland and survived quite happily (and scarily!) on a cliff edge on the west coast of Scotland. The caravan was tethered to the ground and stayed put come what may. Molly your dream is attainable
Cuddlymarm I have to be short because I'm about to leave for work but I just wanted to say thank you for starting your diary. It has spurred DH and I on to having a long conversation about our plans for retirement. We are going to open a bank account today to save a deposit (and hopefully more) to put towards a retirement flat or park home.
If those plans don't come off at least we will have enough to buy a static outright. It's very exciting to have a plan that is turning into we are doing, other than just an idea.
Oh, Molly FIL lives in a static on a non residential site which means he has to vacate 4 weeks of the year. He normally goes to visit family at this time. He is able to get his post dropped off at the office but I do wonder about the permanent address issue.0 -
Hi guys
I'm tickled by the amount of people that secretly dream of living in a caravan
We have to be off the site in the 6th Jan and can go back on on the 1st Feb. last year we went on hol for it but it meant the holidays are too far apart and OH was absolutely shattered because he had used up most of his allowance at the beginning of the year so this year we are booked into a travel lodge (you have to fit the close down into your expenses if family are too far away to stay with if this makes sense)
I personally wouldn't sell a house to live in a caravan but to us this is better than renting. My next target is a small house or flat nearer the family but at the moment there's no work up there so here we arebut you always have to have a plan
OH is away with work so today's meals will be cheap and easy. I got carried away buying potatoes and now have lots so tonight will be jacket pot and beans. I need to squeeze the leftover chilli in the freezer yet ( it's still got lots of bread in cos that's what I fill gaps with )
I went out to put the washer on ( in the shed) and it is now definitely autumn. This is one of my favourite seasons with the colours and changing landscape
Anyway better get on
Cuddles:)

I've got the slow cooker full to the brim with Quorn chilli cooking away now. It's gone really chilly here and has barely stopped raining all day so I haven't bothered putting any washing in because the tumble drier will only be used very very occasionally.
The central heating will be staying off as much as possible as well so my shawl and scarf collection will be used as a top up to keep chills at bay. Normally they sit in the wardrobe most of the time so might as well earn their keep.
I've been thinking of other ways to serve leftover chilli and so far have only come up with
Chilli and chips
On a jacket potato
Chilli enchiladas
Mixed in with cooked pasta
I'm sure there's lots more but my brain doesn't want to work this afternoon
Anyway better get on

I made a chilli lasagne once to use up leftovers after a do and its now a favourite in our household0 -
My parents retirement plan was to sell their big old Victorian terrace and buy a static park home on a quiet site, the left over lump from the sale of the house was to be their pension top up. It's worked wonderfully for them. They're on a site that you can stay on year round, have a lovely double sized park home with 3 beds and a decent bit of garden.
They do find it gets cold during the winter but that depends on the age of the home and the amount of insulation there is. There's a fab community around them and they're right on the water front. It's something that DH and I really think we'll do when we downsize when the kids have left home. Such an affordable way to have what is essentially a bungalow at a great price.
I shall look forward to reading your story"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
