    Hi Hester :)

When we applied for a mortgage this time they don't allow the mortgage past 65 unless you can prove your pension will pay enough to cover it and allow you to live. Better than when we were younger and they threw money at you even though the sums showed you'd struggle to cope.
But we are in a better place money wise than a lot of people and my roof over my head is mine ( even though it is a caravan ) so I count my blessings and plod on.
My eldest has just brought me a cup of tea in bed. He's a good boy :)
Little pleasures in life are the best

    Have a lovely day
    Cuddles :)

    Good morning :)

It is frozen solid here today brrrrr :)

Anyway I've started on my plan for things I need to do (it's more ideas pop into my head than sitting down and planning)
Firstly I need to use the slow cooker and microwave more ( bottled gas is quite expensive) and not waste anything so today's meals are pate on crackers/ what's left of the bread for lunch and potatoes au gratin and veg for me and with a pork steak on the side for OH for tea. I've not been particularly enjoying meat for a while so am not going veggie but only eating meat if I fancy it.
The freezer really needs defrosting so I'm finishing off what's in there and should be able to do that by the end of the week.
It's our first day after Xmas back in the gym today but I am determined to go but first I need to tackle my washing mountain i didn't do any over Xmas and it's now got to the wearing weird outfits stage :)
I also plan to write something on here daily to keep me on track so I apologise in advance for my ramblings.
    See you tomorrow
    Keep warm and toasty guys

    Hi guys :)

Another really chilly day here and very slippery underfoot. I need to go and collect my prescription but apart from that won't be going far.
The potatoes au gratin tasted lovely but looked a little odd ( I had a block of Wensleydale with cranberrys that needed using up) Today will be crackers with pate or cheese for lunch and then pork steak for OH and eggs for me with dry roasted carrots and potatoes.
We were back at the gym yesterday and that and a combination of the cold has made me a bit creaky today. But I do feel better for going I was feeling really sluggish. Our gym is on the edge of a retail park and the queues to the car park were horrific. I know the sales are on but do people really need to shop that much ?
Anyway I had better get on
Have a good day guys. Keep warm

    Good morning :)

Well it's not getting any warmer here but hopefully I won't need to wait for my washing machine to defrost before I can use it today ( it's out in the shed)
Porridge for breakfast and cheesy pasta for tea today ( not sure about lunch yet) with the excitement of a large pile of ironing in between.
Amazing that a new year starts tomorrow this year has gone by so quickly, but I am feeling positive about 2015. We are making progress rebuilding our life. In the new year I am going to start looking for another job, I am aiming for getting down to 10 stone ( I know this will take a while because slow and steady is the healthier way) and to be able to climb stairs without getting breathless. Not the most exciting resolutions I know but achievable with work.
I'm doing well with the grocery spends this week. Only £2.78 so far, mainly due to still having plenty left over from xmas. OH had a slight panic yesterday when he discovered we'd run out of cake and biscuits but still savoury stuff left so we can make do as long as possible.

    Anyway better get on
    Have a lovely day everyone

Met up with lovely friend for a coffee yesterday. who's back up till saturday. Seems i am now hosting a meal tomorrow for between 4 and 14! We went to mr t and split the bill. Will be great way to start 2015 (and if only 4 lots of left-overs lol). And he's a concert pianist so entertainment will be very sophisticated. Eat your heart out mapp and lucia ;-) So today will be cleaning kitchen and ironing but for now still enjoying being alone in the house reading :-)

    Hi Dundeedoll :)

I must admit a bit of alone time is nice. OH doesn't go back to work till Monday and jobs seem to take so much longer :) but the freezer is now defrosted and clean. We have to move out for a month next week so I get a month with my eldest and OH lives in a hotel some of it and comes home weekends. Next I need to root out the suitcases and starting the packing, but the washing machine has frozen again so I can't do any more washing.
But first a nice cup of tea and some lunch

Good morning and Happy New Year :)

I hope everyone is well and not feeling the after effects of the new year celebrations to badly :)
Today will be a pottering around day, putting away the tree and taking it slowly. Ive made a list of what needs to be done by the weekend and will wade through it at my own speed.
Today will be a NSD because I don't plan on leaving the house today. We haven't had brekkie yet but I fancy porridge so will have that and then just nibble on cheese and bicies if we get hungry before tea.
Yesterday I didn't spend anything so my grocery bill for this week is still at £2.78 and I've still loads in the cupboards so this is good.
I now need to bite the bullet and pay my credit card so I better go

    Bye for now

    Good morning :)

I haven't reported in for a couple of days so here I am again :)
I'm now up at my sons until next month so I've new places to explore. I joined the local gym for this month to keep me out of mischief and hopefully keep the weight loss going. He lives near the town centre so there's loads of shops to explore ( but no money to spend in them )
But today is market day and there are nice veg stalls so I am going to have a mooch round them today. The nearest market where I live is too far away from the bus stop to buy much. Sad that I'm more excited at looking a vegetable stalls than the dress shops isn't it :)
    Anyway time to get on
Have a good and frugal day guys

    Good morning :)

I really must get myself organised today. I'm staying with my son this month and it's knocked me out of any routine. All I've done is eat since the weekend. Since we were coming up north after xmas we had postponed the family visiting but ended up coming home with loads of biscuits ( which kept jumping out of the biscuit tin into my mouth ) Not good for my diet so the other packet is going to work with my son today.
On the up side yesterday was a NSD because I didn't go out at all.
Today I'm going to walk to the gym to try and wear off some of the weekends calories and then come back and prepare a nice healthy tea.
I did a click and collect shop at the weekend so plan to stretch that out as much as possible. Ive gone over my food budget two weeks running. But hope to now go under for the next two ( but am feeding 3 people 3 days a week not 2 so I'm not going to stress too much ) My food spend had sneaked up to £50 a week coming up to xmas so this is still an improvement.
OHs firm has now moved over to its new owner so things should settle down and hopefully he will be less stressed. I feel helpless that all I can do is support him.
I watched a programme last night about the new pension changes and even though it will give people more control over their money wonder if it's totally a good thing. One moment of weakness or bad advice and your future could be very long and bleak. I suppose the thing to do is the think long and hard before you do anything.
Sorry this post hasn't been particularly cheerful has it?

On the up side it's not raining and the wind has dropped at the mo so I had better get on

    Have a lovely day
    Cuddles:)
