Po & argos bal trans problems

Hi just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced any problems with the post office credit card accepting balance transfers from argos cards due to the card having too many digits.
I have had a complete nightmare. I applied for the 18 month interest free bal transfer with post office. However, they are not able to transfer my balance due to argos card having too may digits. All argos say is drop the needed amount of digits from the beginning. Post office say they can't do it and claim they have never had this problem before. I.e no one with an argos card has ever transferred their balance. Also to communicate with post office you have to post to Ireland and they take weeks to reply. Therefore I have been given a credit card but have been unable to take advantage of the deal due to the above. I did discuss with post office initially (before applying)as it would not go in on the online during application with too many digits, they said just do it over the phone afterwards. I wish I had not taken out this credit card against my name as it is useless to me.
Has anyone else experienced this problem. It feels like argos have done this extra digit thing to prevent people trans bal and having to pay their interest!:(

Do they realise at PO that it's a store card, not a credit card?
AFAIK, not for all store cards a balance can be transferred to a CC. Don't know about Argos one.
ETA: Reportedly,...HSBC credit cards do Argos balance transfers.... Most credit cards won't do it.
If you have another CC, draw cash to pay to Argos, and then transfer the balance to PO. This will cost you cash a advance fee on the top of the BT fee. Or, to save on the cash advance fee, spend on another card, use the saved cash to pay to Argos, then transfer the balance.0
