Work Focus Interview and Disability

I am a lone parent on income support. I have recently been awarded Disability Living Allowance which in effect means i am disabled. Have trouble walking and standing for a long time let alone picking heavy objects. Received a letter from jobcentreplus asking me to come in for a work focus interview. I have attended these interviews in the past mainly talking how i can improve my chances of getting a job.
Now that i am classed as disabled and also receiving the disability premium from income support do i still have to attend this interview? I am happy to do any desk job which does not involve me walking around much.

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Yes, you should attend - they are generally pretty informal, and give you a chance to discuss what sort of job you could do.
Be clear about your difficulties and what you can and cannot do.
If you want to work, then they can help, but realistically, the interviews are more about the DWP being seen to do something, and reach targets set by government, than results.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

I heard good things about these interviews until I attended one, maybe I was just unlucky and had an advisor on a off day but the advisor was very agressive telling me I can do things which I know I cant do.
I then later volunteered to come for a 2nd interview but with someone else and the person on the phone was nicer and did it over the phone instead of in the office.0 -
Hi, I'm on Incapacity Benefit & last November I recieved a letter asking me to attend a work related interview, unfortunately I was too ill to attend, so give them a ring thinking I would have to rearrange for a later date. I was told over the phone that the interview was purely voluntary & after explaining my conditions I was told to ignore the letter & I will be exempt in future. Give them a ring to see what they say,Hope this helps0
