If the online bill is final (to the date you switched) then you can cancel the DD.

Morning r2015
If you've registered with our website for paperless billing, the online statement will be all you'll see. We won't send a separate bill through the post.
As macman says, our online statements are exactly the same as paper ones. If it says final and the readings match the opening ones with your new supplier, this will close your E.ON account.
If this is the case and we've refunded the final credit balance, then it's a good time to cancel your Monthly Direct Debit.
Hope this helps.
