Have you got a lot of stuff on the hard drive? How about cookies, they can take up a lot of space if you don't clear them regularly. And temporary internet files too.

If you have IE, go into tools > internet options > delete - it will give you options to delete cookies. Start from there.

Have a look at what you have on disc: old documents, pictures and so on. Copy them onto a cd or a memory stick and clear the hard drive.

Also, remember that some programs take up and awful lot of space. If you don't really need them, get rid of them.

    Good luck.

what keeps coming up? A popup?

If you mean system resources, there's not much you can do apart from run less stuff at startup. start, run, msconfig startup tab

Do you have loads of icons by the clock? You want as few as you can get away with there. Usually anti-virus program and firewall.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

you were looking for free antivirus a while ago, and someone recommended AVG. having AVG run in the background may just be whats using up your resouces.

Download and run procexp and it'll tell you what's running and how many resources it's using.
