Immersion Timer

Hi, looking for some advice if I may?

I have a hot water tank which I had timer fitted to last year, it stopped working about 2 months ago and I've been using the override/boost switch to heat hot water as and when I need it.

Got a new timer fitted which lasted all of a day before breaking! Had a quick look on the reviews on amazon and apparently this model isn't great.

Got my handyman to order a different one online as the one with rubbish reviews is all screwfix stock apparently.

Had this fitted last week and it's broken too:(

My question is, is there a reason these timers keep failing? They are not tripping the electrics.

Any advice gratefully received.

I have a similar experience. The timer fitted by an electrician caught fire after six months use. I was unable to return it to Screwfix because the invoice was with the electrician, who had ceased trading. Long after I got round to chasing this up and phoned Masterplug in Telford (IIRR). The man requested I post the timer to them by Freepost and it would be investigated in their laboratory. A week later a report arrived saying it was probable the electrician had not fully tightened a terminal, but the fire damage meant it was not certain. A new timer was enclosed FOC.

I believe the design is flawed - the wall fixing detail means the timer can twist/flex so loosening the terminals. This time round it is well anchored, I hope!

Design aside, for customer service well done Masterplug.
