Quote for a load baring wall removal

Hi,
We've been quoted for getting a structural wall removed between our living room and dining room. We've had a bit of a hard time actually getting a quote due to not getting (or knowing we had to) a structural engineer round to advise on what steel we'd need etc.
The one quote we have had seemed high to me but I liked the guy and he's got a good name down here but I always like to check around and see if we're being ripped off or not before committing.
Thanks
The quote is below:
1 Structural Engineer: Calculations for new steel beam to open
lounge and bedroom. 1 item 150.00 150.00
2 Steelworks:
2.1 Allow remove existing loadbearing wall between lounge and bedroom and incorperate 1 nr Steel Beam as per Structural Engineer drawing under existing ceiling joists.
2.2 Note, wall to North Elevation to be flush, and wall at South Elevation have 600mm projection.
2.3 Allow to supply and fit 1 hour fire rated plasterboard and skim coat of plaster to Steel Beam and all disturbed areas.
2.4 Decoration not included, to be carried out by others.
1 item 2500.00 2,500.00
3 Lounge Door:
3.1 Allow to block off existing lounge door with timber, plasterboard and skim coat.
3.2 Allow to make good existing skirting and subfloor.
3.3 Decoration not included, to be carried out by others.
1 item 350.00 350.00

What’s the price they have put forward? if you don't have structural engineers calculations report etc many will not bother as its firstly hard to price when you don’t know the size of lintels/beams etc yes good builder could estimate but that would air on the high to cover any eventuality in report which makes the quote less competitive secondly unfortunately person requiring works isn’t prepared to spend anything prior could say showing any commitment to actually do the works sort of tyre kicking doesn’t bode well tradesman wants work not just to give quotes? everyone needs to earn a living0

We've just had our lounge and dining room knocked through and all the buildeŕs quoted without structural plans, they all looked and measured and said they knew what size rsj we would need as it was a standard job. We still had to get the drawings done but not until after we'd agreed the work, in fact our builder arranged the structural engineer. (And we got a much better rate than if we'd found one ourselves)
we paid £1800 for the wall to be removed, supported, a door blocked up and all making good. We are on oxon/northants border.0
