Antigua - spending

I am going to Antigua for 10 nights and staying at Sugar Ridge (not "All Exclusive" although breakfast is included).
In true Moneysaving, I am looking for the best way to use spending cash - do I exchange in UK for dollars or use a debit card (and withdraw from ATM)? I only have Nationwide and Natwest debit cards.
If cash - roughly how much is enough?
Many thanks!

Not stayed at Sugar Ridge but went there for lunch ...its very expensive to eat & drink there !... but the rooms are outstanding. It might be worth emailing the hotel direct to see if they do a meal plan which I'm sure would save you some money.
Whether you aim to eat out, or do a bit of self catering don't expect Caribbean islands to be cheap, so if you can take a bit of stuff with you all the better !
Sugar Ridge offer a free shuttle to nearby Jolly Harbour, where there is a decent supermarket, ATM etc.....careful with prices though, when shopping as there is a huge variation in price amongsts the same types of item, depending on brands etc.
There are also a few restaurants in the Jolly Harbour area (do a bit of Trip Advisor research first) - our favourite was the Italian a little bit of a hike along the North Finger.0
