Yes, the silver bit wont go into the bit with the red button part ( Sorry for my poor wording, I'm useless with cars )

Its a Ford Focus LX Estate
  • I suggest a trip to the breakers yard, with a socket set.

They're just bolted to the floor pan, with one large screw.

Lift up and tilt forward the seat cushion, unscrew the fitting from the floor, and away you go.

Just be sure to get one in good condition, ie. no fraying or mildew.

My car is 2001 so would get passed that mark lol.

The mirror in question is the drivers side so it needs to be there.

Is it the whole mirror or just the glass? Glass should be available on Ebay for under a tenner but if you need to go to scrapyard get them there too.

Most items for cars are available on Ebay from specialist breakers so I'm sure you can source them that way without needing to go to a breaker yourself.

    Fantastic, Thanks.

The mirror is perfect as I need the entire thing. Will actually get that one sorted.

WIth the seat belt, I think I shall change it - Am I allowed to do it myself?
Its where my car seat will be too as if I'm correct, Car seats are better behind passenger ?

Of course you are. Just make sure to tighten the bolt down well.

They wouldn't be able to sit on it (at least not comfortably), if it were in front of them. :D

    Hahahahaha !

I mean child car seats. For some reason I'm sure I've read that child car seats are better behind the passenger. If I removed that seat belt would he be OK behind driver.

Nor entirely sure of the difference - safety wise?

I would put them in the middle if you have suitable 3 point belts.

If not i would put it on the drivers side. Seen too many vehicles fail to stop at junctions and crash into the passenger side of a vehicle at the junction or on a roundabout.

You rear child seat is best fitted to the nearside rear seat.

That way you can fix the kiddy in the seat from the pavement. If you put it behind the driver then you have to take the kiddy round the car and stand in the street to fasten the kiddy in.

Which rear seat belt is not working?

If it's the rear nearside take it off as the seat belt cannot be checked if there is a child seat there.

If it's some other belt swap the bits over. Zero cost - very MSE.

With a child seat fitted you will get an advisory that the tester did not / could not test that belt. That's not a problem - he cannot fail it.
  • As it's only the lower fitting that is faulty, it's as easy to fit a replacement, as to fiddle about moving the fitting from one seat to another.

I've messed around with it today.

Its the seat belt behind passenger seat. It wont connect into the buckle without the red bit being pressed in first.

I've tried taking it out but the part with the read bit on seems to be apart of the middle seat belt. So it means I would have to replace the middle belt for the passenger side belt to be working.

If I put the child seat on it, & buckled it in it would be secure. But just hard to buckle in unless you got the knack of that belt.
