couldn't agree more, flimsy plastics, poor screw threads, commonly-failing components hidden under even more plastic....designed to break rather than be fixed :mad:......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Pcspecialist has same with cheaper price, but less warranty
I was considering buying a PC Specialist 15.6" UltraNote II laptop, as I wanted something with a matte full HD screen.
However, summarizing some of the issues raised on various reviews on various websites and YouTube (including the Clevo W550EU, and the Chillblast Prestige 4200SH, which are basically the same computer):
* Fan is very loud, and laptop gets hot
* Quite a few people are getting dead pixels. Does not seem to be that common on modern laptops. Worrying that they have to sell a warranty for this. I have had many laptops over the past 10 years, and can't remember issues with dead pixels
* back light bleed in corners
* Sharp edges on the case
* Some people complain about the weak case, and weak lid (gap between panel and lid)
* Not sure about touchpad responsiveness, getting shinny after some use
* Poor speakers
* Metallic paint peeling from lid (all painted plastic)
* Heavy
* No backlight on keyboard
* Keys leaving marks on screen when closed
I am not sure if I am willing to live with those shortcomings, or look for something else.0 -
Get apple if you want.0

No, I don't want a MacBook Pro.
I really don't like the highly reflective/shiny screens (style over convenience), and I don't like the OS either.
However, I have to admit the build quality is above what can be found from many PC manufacturers. For some reasons, many are copying the design (aluminum/screen), such as the Dell Inspiron 15 or the HP envy, but fail to come anywhere near the build quality.0 -

I have a Dell XPS 15 and the build quality is comparable to a Mac.
Very shiny screen though.0 -
I had ordered a Dell Inspiron 15, made of aluminium, but have returned it. The build quality was good, but some details not so good: keyboard was strange, keyboard backlight was poor. Apple is good with that types of details, on top of good build quality.
However, the most annoying thing was the screen, so shiny and reflective.0 -
I've always really disliked shiny screens and have ended up paying extra or accepting compromises elsewhere to avoid them. It's just one of those things that isn't so popular.
Toshiba and Lenovo are the two companies I know of with a decent selection of matte screen laptops and good build quality. I've owned several of each over the years. Full HD has been available with matte screens on Lenovo models since at least 2011 when I bought mine, but it does usually cost more as an option. I liked the standard (at the time) 1600x900 display on the W520 models and ordered that. It's worth looking in person at them, as details like pixel count and display technology aren't the final word on how good something looks. The standard display wasn't just a lower resolution, it was a whole different panel, and it actually had better contrast than the FHD panel option. I liked both equally, so stuck with the standard. You've just got to look in person. I was ready to spend a lot more for FHD until I saw how good the standard one was.0
