Replacing boiler

We have an old Potterton running a open-vented heating/hw system.

A local Vaillant installer has suggested replacing with a 'System' boiler which does away with the f&e tank in the loft space and we retain the cold water storage tank. The new boiler incorporates an expansion tank and the CH pump.

Your views would be appreciated - we've decided not to go for a combi boiler.

Bit confused. It sounds like it's a straight swap he may just be making the system sealed? The pump will also do your HW if you are keeping your cylinder

There's a good chance you could be entitled to a FREE boiler so check the MSE guide first.

Hi, it is similar to the vented system just sealed instead. Has he given any reason why he would do this rather than just replace with the same? The only possible issue is if there are any weak joints on the old system these will be worse and you will have to keep topping up the system rather than the tank doing it.
