wooden window latch/lock - advice please

Hi

I have wooden windows with metal latches which also have locks. Basically the latch turns to "3 o'clock" to open the window, and fits into a catch on the frame when turned to "6 o'clock" to close the window.

Even though the latches are made of metal (two on each window) one has broken in two so I am trying to replace it. I have been to Homebase, B&q and wickes and they advise going to a locksmith as they don't have anything like it. I can't understand why, it looks fairly basic to me - it is fitted to the window with two screws. I don't want to have to pay a locksmith if I can do it myself. I am on the first floor so it isn't as urgent as if my flat were ground floor, but it is my bedroom window that I cannot close fully without the second latch, so in the cold weather I am going to get a draught.

I can try and upload a photo if that would help? Many thanks.
