Make and model of your boiler? What's wrong with it, and who says you 'need a new one'?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Unsure of model but it's over 10 years old, my plumber mate says I will be better off putting money towards a new one than parts for the old one.
It's a Bali combi boiler and I haven't had it serviced in the three years I have lived at the property.0 -

So what is actually wrong with it? Boilers can easily last twice as long as that-if the boiler is functioning, why replace it?
Get it serviced, and get a second opinion. Plumbers, unless they are RGI's, are not qualified to work on gas boilers, nor are they necessarily in a position to give good advice. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Check with the 'green deal' thing to see are you entitled to claim anything extra on any benefits you may be getting.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

If you are going to be on benefits any time soon, you may qualify for HHCRO also know as affordable warmth see here for eligibility info
if not, non means tested cashback schemes come and go and go very quickly! Unfortunately there is not one right now, but if you can hold out until march/april time next year there are rumors of one starting up again then.
Another government backed scheme, is 'green deal finance'. It is finance at about 7-8%APR and the loan is repaid through your electricity bill and even if you have very bad credit history you can still get it.
Alternatives, can be convention loans or 0% credit cards but being unemployed it may be pretty unlikely you will get conventional finance so if its urgent 'green deal finance' may be the only option for you."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0
