Paint cost on New cars

Hyundai have a few colours: sleek sliver metallic or phantom black pearl. The free one? Creamy white solid. Like lumpy milk. Do you think they're trying to discourage you from getting the cheap one or something?!

A relative in the motor manufacturing industry one told me that they would really like everyone to want the same colour car as cleaning out the paint plant in order to change colour was very expensive. They encourage a favourite colour by always featuring it in adverts. At the time that he told me this silver was the fashion ... Remember those days?

No-one has yet mentioned any car on which you can specify no paint.

(and a DeLorean DMC-12 is too old for such a warranty)
