ParkingEye Parking Charge Notice - Scotland

Good morning all, I am the proud recipient of a parking charge notice from ParkingEye. This was issued following a stay my car enjoyed in a supermarket car park that was deemed longer than acceptable.
The supermarket in question is based in Scotland and the fine is £85 (£50 if I pay up promptly).
Having read through this forum, I'm a bit unsure where I stand with this and what the appropriate action is so I am hoping for some advice from members on here.
Please ask if further information is required.
Thanks in advance,
Sam

Do you also live in Scotland? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Yes, I live in Scotland. I hope that's relevant and not a precursor to my eviction from this website on political grounds!:D0
-
Where you live is not really relevant, what matters is that the parking "event " occurred in Scotland, which means that you simply ignore everything until they give up and go away.Je suis Charlie.0

You can safely ignore the ticket provided you do not reveal who the driver was. There'll be some huffing and puffing in terms of paperwork from PE, but all should be ignored unless they send official court papers (which has never happened in Scotland).
Their letter is likely to refer to Keeper liability under PoFA 2012 - but this applies only to England and Wales, so they can't hold the RK liable.
So do not make ANY form of contact with them. But advice to anyone who has papers suggesting they 'owe' money to a third party - file and retain all such paperwork.

Many thanks for putting my mind at rest. I shall keep this thread updated with any additional letters that are posted to me.
PS - So am I!:beer:0 -
Unless you receive court papers from Northampton court. This should not happen, as you are out of English jurisdiction. But mistakes happen.
Should you receive any such papers, please come back for further advice.0 -

Thanks for that. Many Newbies start a new thread each time they get letters or because they can't find their original thread. This makes it hard for the regulars to keep track of things.
PS +1 by here as well. :TI married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Sammo - you will get around 5 or 6 letters roughly at one month intervals - each one threatening yet more dire consequences regards what will happen if you do not cough up some cash.
Ignore everything and they eventually give up.
Contact them in any way at all - even to tell them you have no intention of paying - and the letters may well continue for up to a year.
The letters can make a lovely framed collage on the hallway wall.
Lovely things they are - as you collect the full set you'll notice that they have more and more red ink on the envelopes and the letterheads - very pretty.0 -
Just to add to Iceweasel's informative post ... we DON'T need to know about ANY of the letters you are sent UNLESS it is court papers or a letter before action/county court claim.0

Yep please don't post about every letter in the chain, it just bumps a thread needlessly and the letter chains haven't changed much in ten years! You are in Scotland, nothing will happen except junk mail and you have no appeal route. They have to know who was driving and they don't. End of scam, see out the letter chain.
Google 'Dundee Courier private parking' to read their summary of the position which is correct.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
