This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

As predicted I struggled to get up this morning and yet I was wide awake early yesterday ! Off to work for me but I have tomorrow off !

RR thanks for starting the thread, DG hope the journey goes well.

    Welcome to Chickens11.

    JackieO, take it easy.

Molly, I hope things go well for you.

    LW, enjoy your furry friend.

I only got up once last night, much better sleep so I'm all refreshed & ready to meet the outlaws for lunch.

I'm getting fed up with hubby's shift system being messed about with, he's on lates again next week, he hasn't done a day shift since the start of August.

I've fed the fish, made a cuppa & unloaded the DW, there is no washing to do as I did it all yesterday, today I'll just sweep the floors. I was washing the kitchen floor early yesterday as hubby dropped a bottle of beer as her reached in the fridge for milk, there was glass & beer everywhere, what a mess.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

I've had a fab holiday. Didn't even have time to crochet my snake, everything's still in the bag I took it down in :D We went all over the place, by boat if possible :D We finally made it to the Eden Project, we keep saying we'll visit and each year we never seem to get around to it. It was better than I thought, specially with a two-for-one voucher :D Saw a rescue at Perranporth the other day, I was sat near the top of the cliff and the helicopter appeared round the corner, I nearly jumped out of my skin, it was so loud. Thankfully everyone was OK.

Mr tru picked some veg yesterday, I was surprised to see courgettes in the garden. There's a few tomatoes still in the greenhouse, I don't think they're going to ripen so I'll bring them in and they can ripen in the house.

I've written a list of jobs for the week but no timetable yet :D I have to ring about the job tomorrow, when I find out when I'm going in for a chat I can organise myself properly.

    Morning All

tru - Sounds like you had a fab time, you deserve it.
    HH - enjoy your lunch!
    DG - Safe travels.

Quite cold here - last night I was really cold so put the heating on for an hour, it's the first time since it was put in. Good job DD was here as she was shown how to work it. I really must find out!

Had a friend round for dinner last night which was really good (chicken and leek pie was delicious). Had a good catch up, will visit her next time - she has been in her house for nearly 4 years and I still haven't managed to get over there. Every time we make plans something changes!

Going to finish the painting of DDs room once and for all today, had to stop yesterday to clean and tidy the house. It is really beginning to get me down so a final push today. Stripped my bed which I will hang out in a mo, yesterday it cleared up enough to get the towels dry outside, just managed to catch them between the showers.

Have a good Sunday. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

Weak blue skies here. Not sure if it will rain or not.

The new oil-filled radiators seem to have kicked in last night, they are set to 15c so if it's colder than that they come on in the evening. Upstairs one was warm when I went to bed. Utility room one is always on as the back of the house is much colder than the front. Living Tom one isn't switched on cos of the woodburner though we didn't use it last night. I did vacuum out a load of ash yesterday as the layer was too high.

Had my new cupboard doors fitted yesterday, the bloke who made them has done a great job and I'm more than happy with them.

Food today will be lasagne for lunch with salady stuff and venison casserole for evening meal. Got some indifferent green beans and cold cooked potatoes to go with the casserole.

    Hope everyone is OK.
    Happy Sunday

Hello everyone. Hope it's OK to join in here. I am wanting to become more purposeful in my OS-ing, and so will be following the day thread to get hints and tips and stay motivated. had to put the hating in for an hour this morning, as quite cold here in Yorkshire. Looking forward to a lazy day - going to have moach around our second hand market first, and then come home to start cooking a roast dinner - pork chops, mash, cauli, runner beans from the allotment. Have DD's boyfriend coming round too for lunch, and he likes to have a good plateful.
I am then going to tackle the food cupboard this afternoon, and do an inventory of what is in there and then meal plan from there.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

    Hi everyone,

I've not been feeling well this weekend so I've not done a lot.

Welcome Inkie, Hester, I'd be fed up as well, it's not fair to either of you, although the idea of fairness seems to have completely disappeared from the British workplace.

I'm going to try to have the next 4 days as NSD's - I'm too prone to nip out for a couple of things and come back with 10 so I'm not going near a shop if I can help it.

I will have to go to the chemist because I've lost a strip of prescription pills (I think I must have thrown away the box absent mindedly after removing the first fortnightly strip. I've sent an e-mail to the dispensary but I might ring them in the morning.

It's beautiful here so we must try and do some gardening, putting it to bed for the winter.

    Have a good day.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, clear sky and air feels chilly, but dry underfoot. We didn’t get the forecast rain until lunchtime, then it was raining and windy for 2-3 hours, it then dried up and we had blue sky and sunshine until sunset – the clouds all disappeared out of the sky which has given us a rather cold night.

Menfolk are up early this morning to watch the GP. They managed to wake me when they got up. At least they made me a cuppa and I can surf on here for a while whilst they are watching tv.

Dinner yesterday was chicken wrapped in bacon stuffed with cheese, roasted potatoes, carrots, broccolli, peas and gravy. DH was hinting towards a takeaway but I’d got the chicken in the fridge so was able to divert him away from that thought – also the fact that it’s now so expensive and what we have at home is nicer and much healthier. Today we’re having a cooked brekkie, as DH and myself are going to a caravan meeting this afternoon, and it’s difficult to say what time we’ll be back. We’ve got more of these meetings next weekend too, 1 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday so we’ll be busy then too.

Yesterday was a rather lazy day – we did go and visit DH’s parents and stayed there for a while, FIL is picking me on Thursday and taking me to the hospital for my appointment. We had dinner at 5pm ish.

    Have peaceful Sundays everyone x

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x
