True, but I have noticed it more amongst two groups. Mothers with young children and OAP's.
Both are groups that one expects to make various allowances for but there are those in each who abuse that expectation.
Obviously they are not alone but they are the two groups who have some members who seem to think that being in the group gives them a right to behave in a way that they would probably not have done otherwise. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

There are a fair few groups who are like this, I often find something to rant about in terms of this subject every week.
My logic is that should someone not be rude and feel they require preferential treatment therefore taking it upon themselves to give it to themselves at my expense.
Honestly, I don't care when I get on a bus, if it's last on or off, but queue jumping/pushing in isn't polite and I'd have likely let you go first anyway. That's just one example of many.
I sometimes think I should speak up, but honestly, I can't be bothered with the hassle because the person/people you'd argue with likely won't recognise what they've done wrong and be adamant they are in the right.Professional Data Monkey

It's all quite civilized in our Tesco up north. A few people gather waiting for the stickers to go on, we chat to the assistant and don't hassle her. Then we share things out. Sometimes people are a bit greedy, but I don't care as long as I get my fruit and veg, and some dairy, and a loaf of bread, maybe donuts for a treat. Sometimes someone asks me if I want something they have picked up, and hand it over to me because they have enough.
IlonaI love skip diving.

Years upon years ago, I used to do the chilled and meat reductions for a well known multiple. I'd gather all the shirt coded stock, put it in the "oops" chiller, tidy it all up, then, as the sc(r)um began to seethe, go for my 45 min break :rotfl:
Every. Single. Sunday.
By the time I'd got back, they had left through boredom.
Served them right, bloody vultures.0 -

My local Tesco used to have crowds waiting at the fruit and veg section, when they had regular reduction times. It was always the same people and very organised, where a couple of large ladies would be at the front, passing all the goodies to family members who blocked the way with their trolleys.
They now move the reduced section about and vary the times, so more people have a chance.
Earlier this year, when the reduced sandwiches were brought out, the cooler section became a dangerous place to be as a group of large men,who were froma road gang, grabbed and pushed anyone (even other large men) out of the way.I'm surprised there wasn't actually a fight.0 -
There wouldn't be such fights over reductions if shops sold the stuff for sensible prices in the first place.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

The manager wandered over due to the ruckus and the poor shop assistant shouted "I can't do it anymore....they're not giving me chance to do it!". The manager shouted that people had to back off to allow him to do his job but they refused. In the end, the manager shouted "This is absolutely ridiculous, look at yourselves! Take the stock out back, it's all being wasted" and as quickly as they appeared, the yellow-sticker hunters dispersed.
I couldn't believe the entire situation actually happened...I still chuckle when I think about it. Terribly sad that people need to do this, obviously wanting to save a little bit of money. It's disappointing that they clearly couldn't care less about the poor bloke who was responsible for marking the items down. He was genuinely almost in tears by the end of it.
:rotfl:That's just too funny (except about the bloke almost reduced to tears).
The strange thing is a lot of the regulars doing it don't really need the stuff, its just like a fun day out for them. Well this is what the security guard and shop assistant at tescos said, apparently some people just like the drama and idea that there getting a load of reduced stuff b4 anyone else, some don't even like/eat the stuff they grab and it ends up going off, Well whatever rocks your boat
What a Bloody waste though!
In regards to someone mentioning lots of pensioners being there I don't really see that many over here, but the ones that are there are just as vicious as the young'uns, there's even a guy in a wheel chair that likes to block off the pathway so he can get first pickings of everything, and its not as if the aisles aren't wide enough or he doesn't know how to park properly so others can get by, he knows exactly what he's doing. You should see his face when he drives off with a basket full of lamb chop, angus beef burgers and a bunch of white lilies.
LOLI may not be the brightest star in the sky but I still shine. Please be gentle

My local Tesco does reductions around the same time. There are only about four regulars for the scrum, so I usually get a few bits if I'm there.
The other day was genius though.
The shop assistant was reducing fruit. He ended up with one pineapple and a hungry looking crowd. He walked over towards the shelf and it was like a scene from the walking dead, with arms outstretched trying to grab it.
He backed away, holding his hand up to stop them from following.
He then very slowly knelt down, still holding them at bay with the raised hand, and placed the pineapple on the floor.
He stood up, still keeping them waiting, backed slowly away, then dropped his hand......They all went sprinting forward like a crazy mob whilst the shop assistant stood there laughing0 -
"people tutting at each other, others shouting...it was like the last days of Rome."
