I'm going to soon replace my 5 1/2 year old hp 550
ill be looking at 13 to 15 inches and cheap ~300 quid
I want something well built and solid though - which brands are best in this respect?
I will just be using it for emails and browsing and video streaming maybe some blogging and non professional basic photo editing.
I know I can't stretch to an i5 processor and maybe just an i3. Are they really required as long as I have an Intel dual core? I want to future proof for 3-5 years. Not sure if my needs will change. Probably not.
Also is chrome os easy to use like windows?
Thank you all

You might find this thread of mine useful.
I bought a Dell I3 15" laptop for £251 delivered. You have to register for a VIP code to get 10% off.
OH is happy with the laptop though he struggled a bit with windows8.
It's quick, quiet, well built but nothing fancy!

I was open to guidance and had a few PM as well telling me to get an I3.
For the price I paid I'm happy with Dell's reputation because in this price range you are limited.

Mobile chips (i3/i5/i7) tend to be dual-core rather than quad-core like their desktop cousins.0 -

Looks good to me. We buy almost exclusively Lenovo in work, and I have a work Lenovo laptop. Well made but the model I have has a hateful mousepad/buttons.0 -

Ah ok can't see that model in the link - may have gone.
Seen some acer laptops a1 refurbished on laptop direct for under 300 with i3. Guess it will be that or the levono above.0
