JSA Sanctions & Free NHS Dental treatment?

I've been looking everywhere on the internet, but cannot find an answer to this question. Can anyone help?:o

If you get a JSA sanction, I know that you loose your money & NIC.
But what I want to know is this. Are you still entitled to receive free NHS dentistry if you continued to sign on, or would you be stuck with the dentist bill?

TIA!;)

Comments

  • Are you on income based JSA? Free treatment only applies to means tested claimants not contributions based ones, but if you still sign during a sanction I cannot see you not being entitled providing above applies. You can still get help on a low income basis by filling in form HC1 if not on means tested jsa.
  • Thanks for your reply HORSEUNDERWATER!;)

At the moment I am not signing on. Last year I was sanctioned for refusing to do a WP, and signed off:o. I know that if I sign on again the sanction might still be in affect. I am not too worried about the dole money, but I need some expensive dental treatment, (which I can't afford to pay for), as I am not working either at the moment:(. Signing on to get this alone would be fine, providing that I am still entitled, otherwise there is no point in putting up with more abuse from these people for nowt:(.

    Any more thoughts anyone?

    TIA:)

I believe that if you have a live claim for income based JSA, although you are sanctioned, then you would be entitled.

Like you I can't find any definite information on it.

An alternative is to apply for it via the low income scheme.
