Can a retailer change their minds

Hi,
Had an agreement with a retailer I could return an item and get a refund. They are now changing their mind and asking for a 25% restocking fee. Are they allowed to do this please.

Put simply... no they can't.
That agreement is part of the sale contract.
Do you have anything in writing confirming that agreement?
If not, your problem will be provibg what was said earlier.
Was the purchase made at a distance or in a physical shop?

was a vacuum orderd online and did not pick uo as I expected after doing research before ordering. Phoned retailer and they offered to send their driver out with another of the same make. They said if it was not up to my expectations I could return for a refund.Thanks for any help and advice given

What was the item? When did you order it, when did you first tell them it wasnt picking up and when did you send it back?
