TV speakers humming - will a soundbar fix this?

Hiya,
In the ethos of the site, I do not want to go out and buy a brand new TV as the picture is fine on it, but every 10-15 minutes the speakers hum for a short while and then stop. I imagine it will get progressively worse.
If I bought a sound bar and hooked it up to the TV, would it therefore solve the problem by bypassing the TV speakers? I am not very technologically minded and may be totally wrong but any advice would be helpful!
Thanks

Depends where the hum is occurring, but it will probably be present at the soundbar too if it's taking its source from the TV.
Are you using a Sky box or other digibox? It might be cheaper to use a digibox (Freeview or Freesat ones are about £30) and take the sound from the digibox to the soundbar, and leave the TV sound permanently muted.
Amplified computer speakers are usually a lot cheaper than a soundbar.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
My experience is that other sockets were entirely separate from internal speaker problems so it is worth trying. Of course don't buy a dedicated bar until you've tried with a radio or hi-fi with a spare analog in.0

Speakers don't generate a hum. The electronics powering them do.
If your hum is being generated before the point at which you take an audio feed to the soundbar, you won't cure the problem.0
