  • Why presume im a man and clearing the balance is not the problem where to obtain a large amount of cash was the question when and if needed !

It would probably be cheaper to get a loan than a credit card given the comparative interest payments, the Amex Gold Business card features on the site don't seem to give any indication that withdrawing cash from your limit won't be fully repayable after max 56 days...

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • I can pay it back within the 56 days butsometimes my incoming money is late so need back up for outgoing - but still not sure where I would go to get this money - a bank ??

What constitutes a "large" amount of cash in your books?

Your question has already been answered by glennc1981 - contact AmEx and find out if you're eligible for Express Cash or apply after reading the FAQ here: https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/cash_assets/faqs.html

Why not just spend on the charge card directly for business expenses then? Gold charge cards are restricted to £2,500 for cash withdrawals after which you'd need to phone AmEx anyway so if you're looking at withdrawing more than that on a newly issued card, good luck.

All you pay is the cash withdrawal charge.

...but that is more than most would want to pay:think:

So your employers are happy with you taking your salary from their business chargecard when payroll is late?
