Fiat Grande Punto ignition problem
Went out in my car this morning with no problems. A few hours later I went to go out again and there was no response whatsoever from the ignition when i turned the key.
A neighbour came round and fiddled with the buttons on it that lock the doors and eventually the ignition worked and the car started, which led him to think it was either the battery in the key or the immobiliser.
He then took the key out of the ignition but the engine stayed running. After a few seconds though it switched off. Tried ignition again a few times with no probs so off i went out. When i came to leave for home the car beeped and a 'have power steering checked' warning came up on dash. As i drove off i felt the steering was heavy (not had any probs with steering to this point).
Got home, took key out and again engine stayed running but died after a few seconds. But when i've gone to start it again it won't, and no amount of playing with the buttons like my neighbour did will start the engine. My dad's on his way over but he's far from an expert so thought I would ask on here if anyone has any ideas.

First think I knew when I needed a new alternator in the Panda was when the power steering packed up. I don't think your problem is the same but sounds like you have a bad connection and a wires touching creating a short.
Get yourself off to an auto electrician.0
