Sent off for a driving licence renewal (update photo) by post about 2-3 weeks ago.
Included cheque payment.

New updated driving licence has arrived but cheque has not be cashed - no debit from my current account.

Is this a common DVLA screw up? :)

it's only a screw-up - in your favour, so I wouldn't whinge too much - if they haven't presented it for payment after 6 months. But I'm sure you've deducted it from your running balance so you won't accidentally spend it again. ;)

It's not a screw up. You'll find they will cash the cheque and it'll appear on your statement within a week or two. DVLA commonly send out the licence before the cheque has actually cleared. If it bounces after you've got your licence then I guess they could hold your licence to ransom until it's paid or call in a debt collector (just my assumption).

I recently renewed my picture and they sent back the licence before cashing the cheque but it appeared on my account after 11 days.
