Kitchen and Worktop

Hi all,
I am replacing a small kitchen and was wondering which kitchen manufacture/range offers the best compromise between quality and price ?
The house will be rented so the kitchen needs to look smart but hard wearing.
Ideally I want wood effect units on the bottom and white/cream painted/laminate cupboards above.
I have been recommended Chippendale - is this a good choice ?
Also, for worktops, I am looking at a plain i.e.no speckles, grain, pattern etc worktop in a cream or off white.
I have looked at the Duropal range but they don't seem to have one, all theirs have some sort of pattern.
Any alternatives ?
Also, what should I be looking for in a laminate type worktop that will mean it is hard wearing and stand the test of time ?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Me again. No replies yet but I have been looking it into a bit more and found that Schuller is well recommended on here.
How does this compare price and quality wise with Chippendale ?

Hi sspyrou
Certainly a Schueller kitchen would be better in terms of quality and longer lasting than a Chippendale one (a lot though also depends on the quality of design and quality of fitting), but would also I suspect be more expensive. But I would also say better value for money, as this is what you are looking for.
If you choose Nova (coloured laminate) and Lima (wood effect laminate) doors you won't go wrong as these are from the lowest price groups and as they are laminate doors are the hardest wearing. We use Nova and Lima doors for utility rooms all the time.
Also a large benefit for you would be that Schueller have a huge range of their own quality laminate worktops, which they can do with all different types of edges (rather than the bog standard rolled laminate) and also laminate colours to match their doors! So a look I really like is to have wood effect visible carcass sides / end panels / plinths etc, coloured doors and the same wood effect laminate worktops. This is a look that using the Nova doors is at the bottom end of the Schueller price spectrum and something that is basically not achievable from English kitchen brands (as far as I know) and looks really quite classy!
Good luck
