Just my opinion but I think using a bot is cheating. :(
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

Perhaps it is and perhaps it isn't - you might not have the time to see all the comps and therefore want to enter but don't see the tweets, then a bot is an ideal way of doing it.
The only downside there is that you normally need to follow people and i dont think there's a way of auto following.

Plus 'matt' clearly has bought followers as theres no way he would have over 15K so he can follow more.

It certainly is - plain and simple. There's a reason that companies use captchas and that is because of bots. Being able to enter competitions when you're asleep in bed is plainly wrong and deprives others who genuinely want to win particular things when these bot users enter for anything and everything. I believe most companies state that automated entries aren't valid, it's a shame that on Twitter, this can't be easily policed (I believe). Matt The Bot is also shameless and cocky with his cheating - i just hope that others don't follow his lead.

Ha me to...saying that I have just learnt to cut and paste X
  • No, I wouldn't. I do however, follow a guy who does and I find a few extra comps by looking down his list of reweets every day.

I wouldnt have the first idea how to do this either so ill stay in the corner on this one, However if i may ask...

You see these avid tweeters and they do a simple RT ,,, then you see them interact, thats fine, up to them i do it myself sometimes, then you see that they have done the same thing hourly/ daily/weekly etc, is this a BOT system or do these people actually sit on their screens constantly RT'ing the same thing? Do they have to have 2 screens open to copy and paste from one to the other??

  • Never would personally, not that I'd know how anyway! I see comping as lighthearted fun, not cheating to get what I want.
I just enter and forget...hoping to win something! :)

They either do what you suggest copy and paste from one window to another or.. they are using twitaculous and run down the list of pages a few times a day.

If you use an app such as tweetdeck you can see the source of the manual tweets, "twitaculous - win stuff" "Twitter for Android" "twitter for Ipad" etc.. and all the ones I look at are usually using twitaculous
    Wishing you all good luck!
