Obtaining a credit card at a new address

Hi, I've recently moved home (previously 12 years at my last address with a good credit history), and a couple of weeks back applied for a new credit card to transfer a balance to a 0% interest card.
They approved in principle & asked for evidence of me at my new address. I sent my drivers license & council tax letter.
This morning I received a letter saying they had declined my application. On phoning to find out the reasons, it's emerged they had my house number listed at '6' when all my documentation is registered to '6/1'. Because of this, there was a mismatch. The customer service rep. said there was no way to over-ride this decision, & I'd have to wait 3 months to re-apply.
Now I'm very worried this will affect my credit-rating at my new address. I'm also worried about looking for a different card in case I am also declined & it affects my credit rating even more!
Any thoughts about what my options are? Or do I just have to wait it out? (post-move to a more expensive flat I'd love to get my finances in order...& that also includes finding a cheaper credit card!)
Thanks x

If you have good credit then it should be fine applying for a new card, I recently moved last October and applied for a card and got it with no real credit history. I did have to send in proof of address and id like you had to but it wasn't an issue.
Two searches won't hurt but if you get declined again I wouldn't try again for a while0 -
Thanks so much. I might pop in to the branch to have chat with the staff about it. If that doesn't help, will do my research & chance another application.
