Replacement Combi Boiler Choice
Hi All,
Our boiler is ready to be retired
(They don't make em like they used to it's only 30 YEARS OLD :rotfl:)
I have had a number of quotes but the 2 boilers that stand out are
the BAXI DUO TEC 28 & IDEAL VOGUE 32
I have been looking at reviews of them online but I was hoping
some of you have actual experience of either of these to help
me decide on which to go for.
Thank you for any advice

Firstly, ensure you have a good plumber.
You are going from an old gravity fed system with probably good pressure to a combi boiler. There are some fundamental tests your plumber should do before you consider a combi boiler.
Firstly, how big is your house and how many bathrooms and how many people. How active is the bathroom use? You will find that even the best combi operating in perfect conditions will struggle with two people using taps at the same time. Furthermore how well the combi operates depends on the dynamic water pressure coming into your house.
You plumber should always do a test to find out if your mains pressure is high enough for a combi boiler. Many times replacing the old lead mains pipe with a modern supply pipe can dramatically improve pressure. Regardless, a good plumber will do these test first.
If you have a high use house, then you may want to consider a unvented (pressurised) system boiler and storage tank (without the cold stores in the loft).
Don't just go with a combi because a plumber, or marketing tells you they are they only/best solution. Many times they are installed in properties they are not suitable for.
They are ment for small houses/flats with light use of bathroom/kitchen.0 -
