Looks like a Kerry Hill ....
Kerry Hill?... She was the 6th form.....err...oh yeah, quite rare then? :o

Meanwhile, back in the present, we have a new neighbour with two horses, two dogs, two cats and an ability that might come in handy at the next Panto, but we'll have to wait and see......;)

She seems pretty grounded anyway. :)

    Afternoon all

Don't shoot me BUT it's too flipping Hot lol..

Looks like tonight will be the last night youngest and his GF will be here. Hubby will take them to work tomorrow and then they will go back to their place after work.

So maybe from tomorrow onwards will be able to get a routine going

Went shopping in Lidl and Morrison's and hardly/no lettuce etc so this weekend will be spent catching up on sowing etc.

That's annoying with the car Alfie - hope it all works out with the insurance.

It was really warm yesterday but today heavy showers, breezy and much cooler again. Typical April weather I suppose.

I went and got a polyhouse from Dobbies are they are on offer & seems easier than fixing the polytunnel which is in the wrong place really.

OH is making a base rail affair and I am not doing much to help as my back seems to have gone again. It's so frustrating as there is so much to be getting on with.

We thought we'd chosen some great weather for having the two septic tanks emptied!

But it wasn't very smelly at all this time, even when he did the neighbours', and they have 3 or 4more bottoms than us. :)

glad it looks like you have decent sane new neighbours dave...
I wont dare to say "early days"... :rotfl::rotfl:

a sweltering hot day here today .
MY car got carted off 9am and so as my hire car was due I thought id crack on with emptying / clearing the brick shed off the house. I was amazed at what id obviously thought, in a blurred moment , was worth saving from a previous life
I now have a mountain of carp ! but NO hire vehicle
apparently they couldn't locate said vehicle and then had no one to deliver said vehicle to nearest depot !!
so tomorrow I have to go pick it up.
I truly now appreciate having a vehicle to hand.. had to get 2 dogs to the clipper today [not mine ,2 I look after] so friend dropped them off for me. then son dropped me there at 4-30, walked them back to owners house, then realised id missed the ONLY bus that goes my way... taxi wanted £23 to drive me 7 miles ..... son was already on a train to a gig... so rang friend and she rescued me :D
roll on tomorrow... they were going to give me a squitty little 2 door car but I asked if the dogs could fit and they offered me a van :rotfl:
also mowed my lawn again today ! it is growing like mad ! actually had to water all my pots today !

well lets hope the weather lasts... till at least after sunday anyway as im selling at a boot sale..

    enjoy your weekend peeps

looks like your storm is just arriving here Alfie...
  • Not reached up here yet, but wouldn't be surprised if it does - the online trackers look quite busy with strikes.

The Mason bees have begun to leave the bee houses - mostly males, but I've seen a few fuzzy females coming out and being pestered by them.

Hopefully, there are a few more in other sites, as it doesn't look like anywhere near as many as in previous years. And no sign of any leafcutters this time.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

We had one bolt of lightning about 5pm followed by 5 minutes of large, rather lacklustre raindrops. Then it all slid north of us, like it usually does. :D Apparently, Dulverton copped that.....It's probably as far west as the mini cloudbursts went today, judging by the weather map.

Still no sign of our local swallows. :(

I've spotted the odd one or two passing through, but it's not until they sit chattering on the electric wire that feeds the two properties here that I consider they've 'arrived.'

It seems an age since the sky was suddenly quiet, back in September. I hate it when that time comes around.

Not sure if we have mason bees, but we have a large hovering bee-like insect that often comes close when people are chatting, like it's listening-in. Friend of mine thinks they are aliens, or maybe Putin's spy drones.

It was a glorious day today. We took elderly neighbour for an appointment over East which was supposed to be Monday so we cancelled our Monday's stuff then she changed it to Saturday GGGGGGGGGrrrrrrrrrr. I wanted to be home in the glory weather. We rearranged Monday's clients, so am all lost.

Right - enough whinging from me.

In the wood over East when walking Collie Wobble I notice loads of bees - what I would call bumbles. I have an ancient book somewhere about bees - I am quite ignorant about them, I must find it and look them up when I see one. There is also butterflies about there - painted ladies - which I think is rather early.

We won't get swallows for a while although they came early last year.

The cuckoos are latish but not overly. There were hardly any last year - just one cuck cucking all the time and no response - sad, but good for the locals, or rather the other nesting birds.

Anyone recommend any nice ground covering plants?
