    hiya peeps

im going to try again !!

it has been pretty cold here especially at night. not much rain thank goodness, sunny but COLD ....

put hay out for the hoss's but all they did was lay on it and roll in it ! they now have the bottom 10 acres to roam in but 2 are in the corall as they have signs of lami !!?? one of them is very prone to it and have to watch her like a hawk all year ...

the koi are starting to slow down now the water is cooling so am only feeding every other day. 2 of them are ginormous ! at least 2ft long and VERY fat ! just hope they make the winter...:o they did last year so fingers crossed..

I too have been stacking logs. I created a store by putting a large industrial wooden crate on its side [on half a pallet base] then I put a sloping roof on it and it sits outside the front door wall so I don't have to go far....

we have LOTS of logs in the barns etc.

    2vuinba.jpg

not stacked by ME I may add...

ooops! just noticed, we don't have magic self clinging logs.. pic is sideways on ....

this morning I took one person from above BACK to the airport , 6am start ...
SO I feel like ive got jet lag this week !
always the bridesmaid never the bride ! although I do get holidays they are not quite a 2 week cruise of Bermuda and surrounding islands ....

I would like to do a bit of an adventure holiday next.... while im able ! cant decide where/what tho..

my back has been giving me jip last couple of weeks, not sure if the cold is causing it or wether iv just over done things.. looking for either a therapeutic massage or maybe reiki [have successfully had that before] .. cant have a sports massage as I would walk like a penguin after if I did I think !

ive just made up my fire ready for this evening. im going to totally slob out...

hope every one has a nice weekend and keeps cosy x

Maybe I should have asked whether you could do my Heathrow pickup/drop off Alfie :)

Just been out to look at stoves. Sensible looking options at local place are Clearview Pioneer 400, Stovax View T (I'm not keen on Stovax though after my experience with the last one) or ACR Malvern. They are somewhat limited on multifuel options, but I have a lot of solid fuel in stock so it make sense to get one.

Still undecided, but at least I've seen them. And they keep all those in stock so there's no problem with getting them in time for the installation.

Also went to the stone place and got a quote for the hearth. Again, not much choice. Obviously everyone here has the same thing - either slate or riverwash granite. Tempted to use the marble slab in the garage instead... Which I think is the slab my parents' stove was on when I was about 10...

ETA - Dafty, apparently jetmasters go for about £50 on ebay. But I suspect the greatest demand is for the fireguards!

Back from bracing three beach walk with a wet pup pup.

Went to see a job that OH did designs for - house gut and re build basically.

The most amazing views from it. A guy who wrote books about living here and on an island used to live there. It had a blue plaque but the last tenants did something with that!
I got OH to ask them for all the gutted out wood so collected two sacks of that and must go back with the trailer for the longer beams.

Your stacked wood is amazing Alfie - I love stacking wood just need to get some. With the harsh weather here already it's caught us short - again.

The ground is so boggy it's slidey with all the wet. Found a 'new'? spring beside the Scot's Greys house near a big rock. The wells were always dug near big rocks apparently.

There was half an eaten salmon down the beach. Seals, otters? The Gruinard river runs down there and has salmon in it or it could have been a sea one. Pup took some hauling away from it.

The Stovax is one of zillions withthe modern 'box' design. I think looks better and less fussy than the ACR, but Stovax get mixed reviews. The Clearview has a more traditional look, whilst still showing off the fire really well, so it's my fave out of that bunch......and probably the most expensive too! :rotfl:

Alfie, your logs are a work of art! :A I used to do them like that, as it's space efficient, but it's not so good for air circulation and drying as having them higgledy-piggledy....

    ...well that's my excuse. :D

What a superb sunset there was tonight.! Mrs Dave was pleased to have that behind her, as she set off to Wells to see the Carnival with grandson Sam. He wasn't that keen on Firework Night, so what he'll make of Carnival I wouldn't like to say!!!

Quite a spectacle....(Wells Weston & Bridgwater Carnivals feature the mostly same clubs' floats.)

Amazing carnival Dave. It is such a feast for the eyes. What a lot of work folks have put in. Hope that Sam & Mrs Dave enjoy it as much as me & Mr Choille enjoyed the link.....but we don't get out much.

Sounds disgusting outside with sleet & wind so pup getting a quick walk before bed - he's tired after his play time in the kitchen which he enjoys being chased around and playing with a soft toy until I feel jiggered and he still wants more..............although he did crash out on the floor for a bit.

It's truly mind-blowing, the amount of work people put in all year for half a dozen events. Then it's scrapped ready to start next year's!

We used to go when the kids were young, or at least teenagers. By the time we stopped going, the floats had grown as much as they physically could. Getting around some of the bends, especially in Wells, was a natural limitation.

Looking at the videos for the past year or two, nothing seems to have altered much. To me, it's is a case of, 'if you've seen one Carnival you've seen them all,' but I wouldn't mind popping up again one year.....just not last night, as it was so bloomin' cold!

We chanced on an Art-Type festival at Foress a couple of years ago and the costumes were amazing - it was like Alice in Wonderland crossed with Pink Floyds brick in the wall. We've never seen it advertised since - we didn't know it was on when we just happened to go there.

The Ullapool Christmas tree was amazing last year - made from lobster creels - sounds terrible but it was incredible and all the fishing boats had lights strung about them so it was a nice thing to go and see. Easy pleased we are.

That float carnival is incredible. So thanks for sharing that.

Just in after three beach walk and pup met his favourite g/f a lovely little collie that play together and run miles over the sand quite happily until pup pup tries to take the romance a little too far too soon.........
His voice has broken I think. He's just starting to shave - he's getting spots!

Off to fill the trailer with wood this afternoon which was a good haul. I love free wood, free anything - I'm cheap.
