Keeping premium bond certificates

Is there any legal need to go on storing Premium Bond certificates as legal proof of ownership? I have hundreds of them blocking up a filing cabinet, including lots of £1 certificates issued years ago.

You don't need certificates now and they don't issue them any more.
All they supply is a statement listing all the bonds you hold, they send a fresh statement every time you buy or sell bonds of if you win a prize and automatically have the prize reinvested.
Perhaps be a good idea to contact them for a statement (if you haven't had one) then if you wish you can dispose of the old certificates knowing that all is well.0 -
