SKYPE Issue

I'm on Windows 8 running on a Toshiba Laptop.

When I open the SKYPE App, I get an "Oops ... there was a problem" & "We were unable to sign you in" message, meaning I can't get into SKYPE at all.

Has been working previously but haven't opened SKYPE for a few weeks.

Windows Updates are automatically turned on.

Anyone had this issue and successfully found a way around it?

Thanks

I had the same problem with new Pc & Windows 8 - I uninstalled/downloaded latest version of Skype and all seems OK now.

p.s. I don't use the Windows 8 app/version of Skype - I go direct [hope that makes sense!]

    Thanks.

How did you uninstall it? I've seen Revo uninstaller recommended but seems not to work for SKYPE, presumably because it is an app rather than an installed program.

Not sure what you mean by "go direct", if you could please elaborate? I'm not a great fan of apps so that could be a good option for me.

I don't use the Skype version that comes pre-installed with Windows 8.

I download direct from Skype website. To update to latest version, I uninstalled the version I'd originally downloaded via the add/remove software procedure before installing the latest version.

    HTH.

Thanks for the clarification and indeed the suggestion. That seems to be working OK although the acid test will come when I dial someone later today.

    Cheers:)

I use the version pre installed in windows8, no problems. Though I did get an email the other month saying they were discontinuing the older versions of Skype and update now.

I only install important updates from Windows.
