having worked as a courier I know parcels get thrown around all the time

So you know the score having worked in the industry yourself. Why'd you think ParcelForce would be any different to your former employers? Similarly why didnt you think to check the excluded items as again they are very typical of other couriers too.

Whilst couriers shouldnt be as they are, as a former courier its hard to understand that you werent better informed or are claiming such shock.

les time means should arrive undamaged in theory

An odd theory, less time means they are more in a hurry to get it there. It HAS to fit on tonights van no matter how small the space it needs to be forced into where as a longer delivery can be safely left untouched in its cage until tomorrows van when theres more room.

just wanted update you guys i looked for the best delivery service 48hr recorded delivery les time means should arrive undamaged in theory. the leg was broken on the dog the buyer said she could glue it.

So you equate speed with damage? Do you believe there are different 'cages' for parcels depending on how quickly they are delivered- and that less items are thrown into the faster service cages?

As someone who sells china and glass I can assure you the speed of service has nothing to do with it at all, all that matters is the packing. You must pack to assume that the item will be underneath several stone of sharp edged heavy boxes- if it cannot withstand that then don't send it.

Reading that list, they seem to exclude pretty much everything that people would want insurance for!

Of course it's up to the individual to check T&C's but I think it would be good practice to make it very clear to customers. After all, posting a fragile item is probably one of the main reasons that people start thinking about insurance. I guess it's designed more for quite valuable but pretty much unbreakable items.

I Once claimed through parcel force for a damaged item and received x6 first class stamps as a 'goodwill gesture' from them!

  • Similar experience,
I posted a samsung tv stand with parcel force that i sold off eBay, it arrived damaged and repacked by the parcelforce and the buyer asked the delivery man to make a note of it.
A claim was made and they refused the claim stating that they didn't cover furniture.
I hardly call a tv stand furniture but the list of excluded item from compenstaion covers nearly everything anyone would ever post using parcelfore.
Do yourselves a favour and don't use this company. If anything gets damaged then i'm pretty sure they'll have some exclusion that vaguely cover the item you send.

Who would you recommend for Tvs?
  • I wouldn't recommend shipping a tv with any company unless it specializes in that field.
this was just the black stand part i shipped so no screen or electronics parts to worry about.
It still got damaged and still got denied insurance so i doubt there is anything that they cover with their so called insurance.
