Much as I think Npower a shambles I have to ask are you giving a full and accurate picture here?

You say that they did not bill you for the 5 months consumption and that you were paying them £128 p/m.

Have they in fact not billed you for roughly 8 / 9 months consumption (which appears likely to be worth far more than the £248 cr if so) and what is that £248 refrring to? Eg is it the credit balance showing on your account after they have deducted payments from what you have been rightly billed for that you are quoting? (which would be an entirely different thing to having credited you £248 for 5 months)
I did copy and paste the emails into my reply but thought I would wait and try hard to understand them first.
My account was wiped out between jan 2013 and august 2014. THEY said they didn't bill me for the period and that according to the code of practise for accurate billing they will not charge me for the period 15/1/13- 8/09/13.
I wish I knew what the £248 is referring to as it certainly is not the amount of energy I used during that period.
I have read and re read the emails and am none the wiser, I think it has something to do with paying by direct debit.
  • I have had a series of emails and I sort of get it now. They are not allowed to bill me for any energy used over a year ago but they CAN use my DD payments toward it.
They admit the letter was worded badly and the chap on the phone should have explained it more clearly. I am not the only customer who has raised the issue and they have changed the wording.
    I give up now .
I changed to a new supplier on the 7th Oct. Today I got a letter from NPOWER about the warm home scheme that I applied for several weeks ago asking for more info.
    Way to go Npower .
  • I got the exact same letter from npower i expected to be credited with a few ££s as to me the letter meant i wouldn't be paying for any fuel i hadn't been billed for over 6 months ago but because i pay dd that covered the bill, if i had been in debt it would have been wrote off seems completely wrong to me but hey ho they make the rules!
  • I agree Lynne if they didn't send the silly letter we wouldn't feel duped.
