That's why the landlord is selling... too late LOL0 -
well my father has had an offer accepted on a house... he's going to buy and me rent from him
but the chances of that happening withing 4 weeks? Slim at best I'd say.
just spoken with the letting agents who have done absolutely nothing to help me find alternative accomodation, and I cannot believe they have had nothing within my price range. Am totally stresed out now cos they say there is no leaway.
am about to write a formal letter to them explaining the situation and asking if, as the landlords have not accepted an offer on this property yet and thus a sale will not be completed before the termination of tenancy date, there can be some flexibility, that I will move as soon as possible, but I have nowhere to go until dads house purchase is completed. Surely they will be happy to have their mortgage paid for an extra couple of weeks
Any further advice?
Any help with what to write in this letter to the letting agents (am gonna send copy to landlord too I think so there is no opportunity for agents to forget to forward it).
I've not yet managed to get hold of Shelter (keep trying the phone but it is chocca), and am not well enough to go sit in the CAB for endless hours waiting to be seen. Am so scared that this is going to have an adverse affect on my health. And it's really so unfair, I have been doing EVERYTHING within my means to find somewhere and vacate in line with their requirements.
Just don't know what to doBCSC # 29 - BRD 29/11/06

Hi Doushka
Sorry to hear about your situation. As previously suggested write to LL explaining you are in process of moving but would be happy to say after end of tenancy on a periodic one (month by month). Emphasis you are moving on anyway so it doesn't look like you're attempting to claim squatters rights!
Refusing to leave at the end of tenancy could cause problems at a later date and do you or the cats need the aggro of court proceedings and eviction??
Let the LL know that the average sale takes 8 -12 weeks to go through (once a buyer has been found!), does he want a void period??
Good Luck!
p.s. I've recently had 2 cat bereavements in nine months - I know how much happiness they can bring when you're unwell!0 -
I am sure that your Landlord has done all the right things serving you notice but from a practical point of view you may come to an informal arrangement between you. You are on teh way to finding somewhere, your father is in the process od buying somewhere for you and these things take time. Your Landlord is selling his house and this takes time too. If you could discuss this with your landlord direct it would be good for both of you, you would have to show that your father is buying you a house and keep him up to date with progress, and I am sure he would prefer his house not to be empty for security reasons and of course getting the rent right up until the sale, it would take some trust and honesty between you but it could work out well.Loretta0
