Birthday surprise for a girl

Options
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

One of my best female friends birthday is coming up (she is turning 18), and I've ALWAYS wanted to make this day special for her. However, due to serious personal issues I will be moving away for a few days around her birthday and there is nothing I can do to try and stay.

I have always wanted to give her gifts in person but this time it looks like Il need to send them through the post. However, I have always wanted to make her special day even more special.. and I was wondering if you guys could provide some useful suggestions? (taking into consideration that I will not be there to do it in front of her)

We go to the same UNI so I was maybe thinking of asking her seminar teacher to get the class to wish her on the day and sing Happy Birthday but I've been told this is childish and an awful idea.

What other ideas would you suggest in order to surprise her and just make her day even more special? Any specific gifts? What do you think of my idea above?

Her birthday is on 12th October.. any suggestions welcome.

Ah, nothing is childish or stupid if it is something you think your friend would appreciate it, however, would her lecturer do this?

What about getting a bouquet of flowers delivered to her during her normal day - colleagues have had this done and it always puts a smile on their faces.

    Or

What about sending her card to be opened on the day with instructions to go to a spa treatment (eg give her the time and address so it is a surprise)

Is there anything particular that is special to you both? That might give you a theme!!

    Good luck

    Thanks for your reply!!

I haven't asked her seminar teacher yet but I don't see why it won't be achievable... unless the teacher is a real moody person!

I just want to be able to surprise her. She's actually a quiet person and doesn't really hang out with a lot of people so the idea of a spa isn't really ideal.

im sure she'd love the idea of her class singing her Happy Birthday then....

How about making her a memory book of some sort? Fill a photo album with pics of you two and write little notes of memories you have and include?

Other than that I like the flowers idea & maybe some florists/order online...would be able to take her a bottle of wine too?

Deffo wouldn't say the singing to her idea to be fair. Especially if she is shy it could be a little embarrassing..

I have already done something similar to a memory book in the form of a video.

I am looking for other ways to surprise her without me actually being there...

    More suggestions welcome

Thanks also for the criticism on my idea.. Il pass on the singing idea.

You can't help circumstances .. Send her a persnal card (moonpig) with a 'sorry I can't be there' and arrange a day when you can celebrate in style. A voucher for special day ..etc. You could 'make your own voucher'

What about asking her to open her gifts via Skype or FaceTime? Give her an IOU for either what you were planning on doing or for a surprise
