I'd love to be able to do the course voluntarily. I'm a self confessed speeder, primarily on dual carriageway and motorways and so many people have said the course has helped them change their ways. Sadly, in Scotland we aren't offered such courses.
Do a RoSPA or IAM course, speed awareness is one aspect of car control that is covered. Includes good advice on attitude.

I've trained as an ADI. I drive to the road and conditions.

One thing to drive to is being able to stop within the distance you can see to be clear - This could be 30 in a 60, or 60 in a 30.

    Thanks :)
It demonstrates you have to be aware of all factors, not just be guided by speed limits.

Its not a guide, its a legal limit. if the conditions are 'perfect' then 30 is still the limit.

Of course. Doesn't mean it's unsafe to exceed it though.

    Back to the OP,

Check the timescale for the SAC. You have to book it in very short order, but have months to actually do it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

It's unsafe unless you want points on your licence (or to attend an SAC). And risk increases with speed, as does injury damage.

    Is it safer?
