PPI Claim Natwest Credit Card Help Needed

Hi all,

Any advice would be really appreciated. I took out a credit card with Natwest back in 2007. I have only just recently contacted them with regards to a PPI claim which they say I do have. I have since received a offer letter for £49.09 for ppi paid on one day and also erroneous fees paid for the same day. I have contacted the bank again and said I thought they had made a mistake and was told that the policy was cancelled. I dont remember cancelling the ppi as I never knew I had it in the first place. Now Im being told that I now need to request all credit card statements going back to the beginning i.e a sar request. Does this sound correct?

Thanks

If you have no memory (or documentation) and you do not believe the Bank's version of events then you can indeed send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. Since this will cost £10 and will only confirm what the Bank have told you, this might be a tad expensive given that your redress is only £50.

Do note that forgetting about having and then cancelling the insurance is not a valid complaint reason.

The card provider is saying that you paid virtually nothing in premiums (sounds like one premium from what you say). If you dispute that and want copies of your statements then they are entitled to charge you £10 for a DSAR. So, yes, that is correct.
