Windows switching off Norton?

My Norton Internet Security 2007 Auto Protect keeps switching off a short while after I boot up. The rest of Norton is ok.........just Auto protect.
I've been told it's windows that's switching it off but I don't know how or what to do about it. I have been advised to run my product recovery disk to get it back to factory settings and that will solve the problem, but am reluctant to do that.
Has anyone got any suggestions please..........apart from ditching Norton, which I am seriously thinking of doing!:o
I've run the Symantec tool for fixing it but it didn't work as usual.

Oh as soon as you sorted that out, I'd get rid of Norton and go for free software. I did and never regretted it.
Short of a system restore I don't know what to suggest, but more knowledgeable peeps than me will be along soon with proper advice, I'm sure.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
I take it you followed the instructions here:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/nav.nsf/docid/2005093003483106?Open&docid=2007060603352036&nsf=nip.nsf&view=docid
Seems like it's a problem that is hitting a few people and Symantec don't really have the answer yet.0 -
My thoughts exactly. Thanks guys.I wish you......
