4 yr old range cooker faulty - rights please?

I have a range cooker installed when we had a new kitchen Sept 2003. It has double gas ovens & gas grill. One of the gas ovens won't stay switched on - I hold the knob in for required time after igniting but as soon as I let go the gas goes out. Fortunately the other oven works but I bought a double oven because I do a lot of baking & often need ovens of different temperatures at the same time. Also the electronic ignition doesn't work on the grill - you have to use a match but this has never worked since I bought it & I never got round to contacting anyone about it as I don't use the grill much.

Is it reasonable to expect an oven to last over 4 years? (cost £800) or should I expect to pay for repair?? Any consumer or indeed technical advice welcolmed:j

I would ring consumer direct up, but it does go to six years depending on cost of the oven

Have you got any of there paperwork from hen you brought it? If so, chack it and see if there's any info about the warrenty. I would have thought for something of that price would have come with a standard warrenty, whether it would be longer than 4 years though, I wouldn't know. If you have a number of the place where you got it, ring them, I'm sure they will be able to tell you.
