EDF Final Bill

Options
I have had a final bill from EDF as I have changed supplier but as my house has been empty gas and electric use has been very minimal. Now the bill that has come in is if nearly £200 for 40 days, when I looked at the bill the usage has been estimated. I called and spoke to the customer service dept and they said its what British Gas had supplied?

I find this very strange as I supplied BG with the opening readings from the meter. I asked if I could give EDF the readings but they said it has to come form BG. EDF told me and sent an email saying that the account will be put on hold for two weeks while it is sorted out but 1 1/2 weeks later I am getting demand letters from them. I have spoken to BG who have said that they have provided EDF with the readings when I gave them to BG?

This is a complete ball ache! Why can;t I just give EDF the final readings (which I have photos of) and then settle the final bill;?

The laid down procedure is that the gaining company informs the losing company of the meter reading(s) on the date they take responsibility for supply.

Were these the readings BG asked you to provide some weeks into the switching procedure? There is sometimes dispute between the losing and gaining supplier about the readings - it is not unknown for the customer to give an incorrect reading!!
  • The readings where provided about a week after signing up with BG. IT was about a week after that the final bill came through with the estimated readings.

Interesting. I'm having a similar problem when switching to Scottish Power.
