Discrepancies in Credit Reference Agency Scores

Hi All,

I'm wondering how accurate the scores on the credit reference agencies are.

I've had a pretty ropey credit history in the past (all my own fault) with defaults and a CCJ issued early this year. I did, however, pay every single debt I had off in April - so now everything is showing as satisfied/settled.

Basically my score on a Experian jumped from 720 last month to 901 2 weeks later! Obviously I'm delighted about this, as I'm now in the good category. I recently got a Barclay card strictly for emergencies (my husband has hold of it!). But... Equifax have me at 208 - Very Poor!

Anybody know why the scores are wildly different and what I should do about it?

The other thing is Experian are saying I have £800 credit available (but my Barclaycard has a £400 limit)???

Any input appreciated.

The scores mean nothing just ensure the data is accurate and you are on the electoral roll.

Like an alcoholic that's managed to stopped drinking. A few months later you've now walked up the the bar and ordered another drink.
Is this the start of another slippery slope people will ask. Only time and the history that now gets written will tell.

Erm, no. Like I said my husband (who is extremely financially responsible) has it and will only allow me access in an emergency. I posted for advice, not admonishment.
