Online statements and switching accounts

Hi. I've just switched my account and suddenly realised that all my statements are online. Should I have printed them out before switching (a small forest worth!) or do they stay somewhere accessible? Anyone know?

At Nationwide I can't see my closed account. Obviously, neither can I see the statements. Do you really need them?

What would you need the old statements for?

And If you do need them, can't you download online versions and keep them on your PC, or in the cloud?

If she 'just switched' it, it's too late to download now.

You could call them up, I would imagine they keep records of statements for closed accounts.

They do, but they don't supply them for free.

Indeed, I can no longer see them. I'm not sure why I would need them, but having just queried a direct debit that was larger than I expected which required me to send them a copy of my statement I think it's possible that at some point I might need them - probably not the ones from 5years ago. Still, lesson learned, next time I'll download every 6months or so.
