Damaged tumble dryer upon opening

I hope this is this is in the rite section I'm still finding my way around the site
I received my new tumble dryer from very, however upon opening the dryer it has a three inch dent on the top of it.
It's hassle having to return it and wait on for another, would it be unrealistic to ask for some kind of discount now or would they insist I return it?
Some might not see the problem that it's dented it's not an issue rite now but if I ever decided I didn't want to keep it I'd have to sell it as dented or slightly damaged cosmetically
I've yet to see how much of an impact it'll have on the electricity bill, it's b rated so hopefully it's pretty good

Well make your mind up. You either want to keep it and try for a discount on the price or want to return it. The decisions is yours.I hope this is this is in the rite section I'm still finding my way around the site

I don't need to make my mind up, as I said it's a hassle having it collected and returned. I don't know if it's likely a company would offer a discount or not, i very rarely get big appliances delivered.
I've emailed them and told them it's damaged I didn't mention I want to return it or get a discount, I'm hoping they reply offering a discount.
I don't like to ask, I was more wanting to know what others would do or if it's likely to get a discount.
I'd be happy with a discount code for my next purchase0 -
They won't know you want a discount unless you tell them as most people would be looking for a replacement.
Email them again - saying that as you don't really want to have to wait for a replacement to be delivered you'd be open to discussing a discount. Worst they can say is no.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Under the sale of goods act if the goods do not conform to contract the following remedies are possible:
a) rescind the contract for a full refund
b) repair
c) replacement
d) reduction in contract price.
Ive had something similar happen with a fridge freezer before - the plug pin was bent upon arrival. I could have attached a new plug myself but didnt want to invalidate the warranty etc so contacted the retailer. They were going to refund and collect but I said I was happy to keep the item, if they offered a reduction on the price paid. I also pointed out that if they were to refund, they'd have lost the original delivery charge, be paying for it to be collected and they'd then be in possession of a fridge freezer they'd likely have to sell as discounted anyway due to the damage.
I ended up getting the delivery charge refunded and 10% off the purchase price - which added up to around a 20-25% discount if memory serves.
Although bear in mind you cannot force a remedy that is disproportionately costly. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I don't like to complain about things, I'll get my husband to call he's a good at moaning0
